Our Background
Karina Patfield - a master of words and wit - and Zoe Leigh, a multi-media artist, bonded over two large battered haddocks and our own small fry. Karina, a copywriter and workshop facilitator, has a Master's in Creative Writing, and Zoe has had a long career in digital design but loves the much more social and tangible world of art and craft. When they were given the opportunity to set up our workshop space at the very friendly and vibey St Andrews Mews, they were tempted to just set up a bed, read, and rest. It made them think about how important a little bit of escapism is from daily life – we can muscle through times that are very lonely, too busy, or not fulfilling, but meeting interesting people and creating can be a wonderful tonic to any of those stresses. With the help of the talented illustrator Sam Mortimer, they ploughed on together to create a calming space to run workshops, allowing people to realise and bring their stories to life.
